There is so much beauty that we sometimes miss. Just a ray of sun on a flower petal, or a bird sitting on the fence. We don’t’ have to paint a huge painting to convey the message. We will use a small-er format due to time and space, Using a watercolour paint or sketchbook, or small pieces of watercolour paper. We will be watching for that small beautiful picture to photo and put in our books or paper. You can also bring one to journal each day while in Italy. A wonderful way to remember the trip and memories.

About teacher:

God has truly blessed me by allowing me to create. I have done a lot of different things, but painting is my favorite.

We live in far west Texas where the wind and tumbleweeds blow! And we live on a cotton farm and have 2 grown children, in-laws and 4 grandchildren.

I have been painting in watercolor since about 1990. Along with the watercolors, I do lots of drawing, sketching, collages and now I have started doing oil paintings. I love bright colors, and western art is my favorite subject, even though I don't do a lot of it. Watercolor is my favorite medium but the torn paper collages run a close race! I started doing the mixed media collages in 2010 and have really enjoyed them. Some have been licensed, and sold at Kohls, and Home Goods Stores. As of 2016, Kirklands is carrying a church painting.

I am a signature member of Southwest Watercolor Society SWS, Wyoming Watercolor Society WyWS, and Artists of Texas AOT, SWA and NMWS.

I also teach monthly lessons as well as workshops. Along with Commissions. I never had art in school, and started out on my own basically but have gotten to take some workshops along the way. They are great but it all boils down to hours and hours of practice, ruined paintings and paper! I have been selected to be in two North Light 'Incite' books. The 2nd will be out in Sept. 2015. In September 2016 I will be in Incite 4 with camper collages. I have also been in Chris Unwins 'Artistic Touch' books. In 2009 one of my watercolors was on the cover of Daniel Smith Catalog, and Christopher Cross purchased one of my Christmas pickups for his Christmas CD.

Your Tuscan Experience

Our 10-day courses are held at the beautiful old farmhouse on the idyllichill overlooking the city of Lucca. Tuscany is one of Italy’s most cherished regions. Its beautiful countryside is reminiscent of the landscapes of Renaissance masterpieces. Along with rolling hills and vineyards, it also offers a rich artistic heritage including exquisite art and architecture – not forgetting premium wines and delicious cuisine. Set between the blue-green Apennine Mountains and the turquoise Tyrrhenian Sea, Tuscanyis the heart and soul of Italy. Known and loved for its splendid landscapes, charming low hills, olive groves, vineyards, and beautiful old farmhouses, Tuscany is the ideal location for any artist. The weather in Tuscany in October is wonderful, with sunny days and colder nights. The air is clearer than in the hot summer months, making for excellent views and great painting weather. Your days will be divided between painting at home with Nancy and daytime excursions to local points of interest where you will have your painting sessions and time to discover Tuscany. As an immersive cultural experience, we also offer activities including a classical Puccini concert, cooking class with our Chef who specialises in Tuscan cuisine, and wine tasting in our favourite local vineyards. These are only a few of our many close-by attractions.
